AIPSO's Response to "Quebec bill would speed up accreditation of foreign
professionals"
"AIPSO applauds the proactive nature of the innovative legislation which is
being introduced in Quebec. The use of a restricted license is a way of
allowing communities and underserviced areas to hire well qualified foreign
trained doctors to work in specific locations while under supervision a local
doctor.
The legislation's premise that "The restricted permits would allow
professionals to do some professional work while they complete any training
required to obtain their full accreditation" is giving practical expression to
an urgent need.
The spectacle of long wait times and millions of people without family doctors
can be alleviated if well qualified IMDs who are living in Ontario are able to
help and local communities empowered to solve their own unique problems"
